Yesterday, when Kate Middleton and Prince William announced their engagement, the mood was blue – sapphire blue, that is. The future Princess (and probable Queen) stood before the world wearing Diana’s famous ring offset by a draped silk jersey dress by British label ISSA London. While the regal blue version sold out immediately from Matches Fashion, the online boutique she purchased it from, we found the the same dress in rich monarch-worthy purple. While this was a relatively safe play for Ms. Middleton, who is often spotted in similar styles, she looked every bit the future royal. We just hope that she begins to explore the new guard of British fashion leaders at her fingertips. Just think of the Princess in an Erdem lace look, Mark Fast cutout number, Jonathan Saunders fit-and-flare frock, Christopher Kane suit or Mary Katrantzou lampshade skirt. Finished with a pair of Charlotte Olympia or Nicholas Kirkwood heels, Kate would surely be crowned the Queen of style hearts.
