The major players from Black Swan are reuniting this spring. Choreographer Benjamin Millepied, his wife Natalie Portman, and designers Laura and Kate Mulleavy of Rodarte will come together again for the New York City Ballet’s 2012 Spring Gala. Titled À La Française, the special one-time-only ballet is a tribute to France.
The piece, choreographed by French export Millepied, will feature costumes by Rodarte. Portman, meanwhile, will serve as honorary chairman for the event.
Rodarte’s first taste of costume design came on the set of Black Swan. Beyond the ballet, they’ve also designed the costumes for the L.A. Philharmonic’s production of Don Giovanni, opening May 18.
For those itching to get a glimpse of the costumes in action, the gala takes place on May 10.–Erin Fitzsimmons
