RISING STAR

Life is good for Canuck actress Rachelle Lefevre. She played Victoria in the hugely successful Twilight and has signed on to star in the next two flicks in the series. Flare caught up with the knock out red head just weeks before she heads to Vancouver to film The Twilight Saga: New Moon.

Levefre as Victoria in Twilight

FLARE: In what ways do you relate to Victoria?
Rachelle Lefevre:
Victoria is one possible answer to a very interesting question: What happens when you wake up one morning and have all of the super powers in the world? It’s an interesting question about humans in general.

If you could have one super power, what would it be?
R.L:
I would want to fly. I have a keen interest in travel so that would be one of the reasons. I’ve always been a person who has the fly dreams. But I hate being on a plane because I’m not in control.

The books and the film have a massive fan following. What’s been your most intense fan experience to date?
R.L:
The premiere. I opened the car door and the screaming erupted. To hear people screaming your name with signs and posters, reaching out to touch you and say hello and take a photo with you – I’ve never experienced anything like it.

Have you ever been that hardcore about anything?
R.L:
I was a really big New Kids on the Block fan. Joe was my favourite.

What’s your relationship like with the rest of the Twilight cast?
R.L:
Incredible. None of us knew it was going to be a hit so there was no sort of room for ego. We were treading on sacred ground because it already had a life of its own and a fan base for the books. Because we all came into it with a mutual respect, it brought us together really quickly.

I read that you were studying trapeze to prepare for your role in the second movie.
R.L:
At one point I was. It’s incredible. The instructor said something really interesting that kept me going back, ‘trapeze is not about holding on, it’s about letting go.’ I just thought ‘that’s for me’ because I’m very type A and trying to adopt a more ‘go with the flow attitude.’

Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?
R.L:
I hope to continue to be blessed enough to make movies back to back.
