Punk Protest
In March 2012, three members of the Russian feminist art-punk rock collective, Pussy Riot -- known for their trademark balaclavas -- were arrested for staging a protest in a Moscow cathedral, singing out against Russian president, Vladimir Putin, and the government's incursions into the Russian Orthodox church.
On August 17, they were convicted of "hooliganism motivated by religious hatred."
