The contestants of Project Runway All Stars and Project Accessory won’t be the only ones in the limelight when the two spin-off shows premiere on November 3rd: audience eyes will also be trained on the eccentric cast of judges who have signed on to throw in their two sartorial cents.
Designers Isaac Mizrahi and Georgina Chapman will judge All Stars, which features noteworthy contestants from past seasons of the show – including Mondo Guerra from season one, and season five’s Kenley Collins – vying for a second shot at glory. Among this season’s guest judges are model Miranda Kerr, rapper Pharrell Williams, and the ever-glamourous Miss Piggy. Model Angela Lindvall is taking over from Heidi Klum as the show’s host; it remains to be seen whether she can come up with a catchprase that strikes the same balance of charm and terror as Klum’s German-accented “You’re either in or you’re out.”
Accessory, hosted by model-turned-actress Molly Sims, shifts the focus from clothes to all the bells and whistles that set them off: shoes, bags, belts and jewellery. It features designer Kenneth Cole and InStyle editor Ariel Foxman as permanent judges, with Debra Messing and Kelly Osbourne among the guests.
We’re looking forward to watching how the rapport between Mizrahi and Miss Piggy plays out on All Stars. The designer has been known to get a tad inappropriate with actresses (remember when he felt up Scarlett Johansson at the 2006 Golden Globes?), so we’re curious to see whether the notorious Muppet diva lets him get away with any funny business. -Allison Friedman
