Driving around on the streets of Beverly Hills, and West Hollywood tonight, one got the impression that something wonderful had happened, and everyone was out celebrating. Valet lines were backed up for blocks, paparazzi flashes were more prevalent than usual, and doormen were sweating it, trying to parse out the party guests from the gate crashers. It’s a world gone Oscar party mad! I spent the first part of the night dining with Nicole Miller and about 16 others at an intimate table under the Chateau Marmont hotel’s famed colonnade. Heather Graham sat to Miller’s left, and I on her right. Across the table Molly Shannon shared lively stories, and “Gossip Girl” alumna Joanna Garcia yucked it up with BFF, and “Better With You” costar, Jennifer Finnigan. While we sipped our cocktails, just down the stairs and out into the hotel’s private garden bungalows, Michelle Williams held court at a Diamond Information Center dinner in her honor. Across the street and a few doors to the west, at the Sunset Tower Hotel, Michelle Trachtenberg and Paris Hilton joined the fun at the 4th Annual Hollywood Domino gala, this year benefitting the Seven Bar Foundation. Even Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa got in on the act, welcoming Oscar nominees Amy Adarms and Hailee Steinfeld into his home for the “Hollywood Reporter” Big 10 Party. But the party that most excited the fashion flock tonight, was the opening of Tom Ford’s Rodeo Drive Flagship store. Colin Firth was the only Oscar nominee in attendance, but that was more than enough for us.
