A STORE IS BORN
Field kicked off her career in 1966 when she opened her eponymous Greenwich Village boutique at the tender age of 24—an instant hit among New York’s attention-seeking style set. In 2006, the store reopened in the East Village, with a full-service salon joining the racks of looks by Patricia Field and flashy labels like Rojas and Tripp NYC.

COSTUME DRAMA
Most people know Field as the mind behind the memorable looks of Sex and the City. Since then, the Emmy Award–winning, Academy Award–nominated costume designer has been busy fashioning the oh-so-right ensembles seen in Confessions of a Shopaholic (above) and The Devil Wears Prada and the so-wrong-its-right outfits of TV’s Ugly Betty and Kath & Kim.

POP STAR
Following fashion maestros like Manolo Blahnik and Matthew Williamson, Field was tapped by Coca-Cola to transform the company’s iconic glass bottles into a limited-edition collection featuring cartoon imagery in Field’s signature sassy style. Released last spring, the bottles were sold exclusively at Selfridges in the U.K.

IT’S SHOE-TIME
In 2007, Field teamed up with Payless Shoe Source to bring her fun-loving fashion to the soles of the masses. Cheap and covetable (Field even sported a pair from her Red Carpet Collection to the 2007 Oscars), the strut-worthy styles are snatched up season after season.

MISTRESS OF THE HOUSE Along with designing one-off collections for lines like Seiko, Candies and Mattel (think Barbie-sized Carrie Bradshaws and life-sized Barbie bling), Field has built a brand of her own with namesake lines like Patricia Field and House of Field. Her latest project, Destination Style New York, features limited-edition looks ranging from pretty party dresses to classic toppers. Says the fearless fashion icon, “It’s about expressing your personal style, which is the key to always looking great.”
Patricia Field’s collections are available at the Patricia Field store in New York and online at www.patriciafield.com. Find Destination Style New York at the Patricia Field store, Marks & Spencer and on the Home Shopping Network.
