“If you open my closet, every single thing has a ruffle or a bow or something glittery on it. I sometimes have to tone it down,” says Christina Hendricks. “I love being a girl. I love being feminine.” Our November cover girl clearly loves fashion. The Emmy nominated star of Mad Men plays alpha secretary Joan Harris and since the show aired three years ago, her character has become an icon in fashion and pop culture.
Hendricks has also been credited for bringing the hourglass figure back to the screen. When asked what she thinks her body means to the world, the bodacious bod is quick to pass the torch saying “It’s a cyclical conversation[that] happens whether I’m on the planet or not. It happened when Gisele Bundchen was popular; she was bringing curves back. It’s a conversation that needs to happen, and every time it happens, I hope we get a little step closer to healthy.”
Christina Hendricks can be seen in theatres now, starring opposite Katherine Heigl in the comedy Life As We Know It. For more on our exclusive interview with her by Katrina Onstad, check out the November issue of FLARE, on newsstands Monday Oct. 11.
