Amy Winehouse’s new album – titled Lioness: Hidden Treasures – is set to be released on December 5th, just over four months after the addiction-plagued singer’s premature death. The announcement came this morning from Island Records and Winehouse’s father, Mitch, who declared that he hadn’t “fully appreciated the breadth of Amy’s talent” until he heard this new material. Consisting of 12 unreleased tracks produced by longtime Winehouse collaborators Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi, it includes “Body and Soul,” the duet she recorded with Tony Bennett shortly before her death, in addition to different versions of old songs and several brand new ones. A dollar from each album will be donated to the Amy Winehouse Foundation, which helps young people struggling with addiction. “I believe she has left something beyond her years,” Salaam Remi said of Winehouse. “She has put together a body of work that will inspire an unborn generation.” Ain’t that the truth. -Allison Friedman
