Lions and Tigers and…Michelle Williams? Oh my! The bewitching hour has begun for Blue Valentine star Michelle Williams. She’s been offered the goody two-shoes role of Glinda the Good Witch in Disney’s Oz prequel: Oz, The Great and Powerful. Williams joins James Franco as the film’s lead, a snake-oil salesman who becomes the great and powerful Oz, and Black Swan star Mila Kunis, who’ll play the Wicked Witch of the West, Theodora.
Reportedly, Williams was originally wanted by studio execs to play Evanora, the Wicked Witch of the East, but the film’s director Sam Raimi (Spider-Man 3) was eyeing Hollywood heavyweight Hilary Swank. Now it’s been confirmed that Oscar-winner Rachel Weisz will be rounding out the film’s witch trifecta as Evanora. Oz, The Great and Powerful starts production this summer and is expected to hit theatres Fall 2012.–Ashley Singh
