Lana Del Rey’s imagination knows no bounds as she releases a 10-minute epic for the Born to Die — The Paradise Collection single, “Ride.”

With some help from music director (and frequent Rihanna collaborator) Anthony Mandler, the “Ride” video plays like a short dreamy, dark film with Del Rey narrating.

“I was always an unusual girl,” she says in the beginning. “My mother said I had a chameleon soul with no moral compass pointing due north.”

While the story-telling is fractured, much can be picked up from the dark imagery: 1) Del Rey may or may not be a prostitute 2) she likes hanging out with bikers and 3) one of those guys like brushing her luscious hair.

Is she happy or sad at the end of the video? Who knows.

“I’m f—king crazy,” says Del Rey in the epilogue, “but I am free.” —Portia Baladad
