TALKIN’ ‘BOUT AN EVOLUTION

Not only does she dominate the charts, Lady Gaga is also becoming the talk of the fashion crowd. With hair for wigs and a serious aversion to pants, her style has come a long way from simple stage wear. Check out the evolution of Gaga.

Who’s that girl? Back in 2007 the now famous blonde was a brunette.

By the time she came back on the scene in 2008 with her hit CD The Fame, Gaga had adapted her long blonde locks with signature fringe. Her fashion sense was also gaining interest as she arrived for events in extra-terrestrial-type oufits, like the geometric wonder pictured here.

Soon the blonde wig alone was not enough for the trendsetter who insists on pushing the envelope. So what did she do? She put a bow on it! Literally wrapping her hair into wearable art.

“I’m a little tea cup short and stout…” Right? Gaga showed a little Dutch love at the Brit Awards back in February with clogs and a matching porcelain-like get-up.

Known for her Martin Margiela-inspired bold shoulders, Gaga’s contemporaries soon started to follow suit with Beyoncé and Christina Aguilera both taking the stage in Gaga-esque looks. So of course, the Lady of Music moved on, pulling the structured shape off the shoulders into the hips, also starting to play with colour and texture.

And in perhaps her most bizarre move yet, Gaga showed up on the cover of Rolling Stone in plastic bubbles, a costume she has also adopted for the stage.

The 2009 MMVA’s in Toronto was the scene of Gaga’s fashion crime. Bored with her long blonde hair and fringe, she has now cropped her ‘do and moved the long locks onto her clothes in perhaps her most unusual fashion move.

Hey, it may not always be pretty, but at least it gets people talking!
