Kim Wayans was spotted at the 2011 Gotham Independent Film Awards in New York City last night supporting the film Pariah, in which she plays the conservative mother of a teen struggling with her sexuality. Director and writer of the film, Dee Rees, won Best Director at the awards. The film also garnered the Excellence in Cinematography Award at the Sundance Film Festival, where the film premiered earlier this year.
Pariah is the first critically-acclaimed film for Wayans, who is known for her role on In Living Colour, and for being a story editor on her brother Damon’s TV series, My Wife and Kids. She stood out on the red carpet last night in a crimson gown with a deep v-back from Greta Constantine’s Fall/Winter 2011 collection, created by Toronto design duo Kirk Pickersgill and Stephen Wong.
