Who’d have thought someone who spells her name with a $ would have such a serious stance on Canadian politics? Singer, songwriter and beard fan Ke$ha has spoken out against seal hunting in Canada in a campaign for PETA.
“The Canadian seal slaughter is barbaric and archaic,” she said in a statement. “My music and my fans are part of a movement of youth taking over the world with positive change. I know they’ll help me and PETA ban the Canadian seal slaughter so the only place you see baby seal fur is in a museum.”
This isn’t Ke$ha’s first flirtation with animal activism. Last year she let the fur fly when blogs suggested she was wearing real animal skins. “Its ALWAYS fake fur,” she tweeted. “I don’t do the real shiz. My rekords (sic) called ANIMAL! I dont do fur!” When Nashville was hit by a flood last May, she donated 1000 pounds of dog and cat food to the Nashville Metro Animal Shelter.
There’s no arguing with her altruistic animal track record. But does this message go too far? Let us know in the comments.
