Britain’s sweetheart Kate Winslet has been chosen to be the new face of St. John’s Fall 2011 ad campaign. Following in the high profile footsteps of Angelina Jolie, Gisele Bündchen and Karen Elson, the knitwear company feels Winslet captures the modernity as well as elegance of its consumers.
“She is an accomplished, beautiful woman with an extraordinary body of work, and one of the most admired actors of her generation,” the brand’s creative director, George Sharp, tells WWD.
The campaign, which was shot in a theatre by Craig McDean, is scheduled to appear in September.
“They want to keep it looking like me and not have it look like me pretending to be a model wearing these clothes,” said the Oscar-winning actress. The goal was to remain authentic to who she really is—chic and cultured.
Although it is the star’s first time collaborating with a fashion house, Winslet says she is excited to work with St. John, a brand she says she’s been wearing for several years.
