Topshop releases their first holiday short film, “Winter Wonderland,” featuring a musical performance of the holiday classic by Kate Bosworth.
“This project brings together two important aspects of my life: cinema and fashion,” said Bosworth in a statement. “I have always been a fan of the Topshop brand and it has been an honour to work with Sir Phillip and the team. I hope everyone enjoys watching it as much as we did making it.”
Inspired by Michelle Pfeiffer’s singing scene in 1989’s The Fabulous Baker Boys, the Michael Polish-directed short circles Bosworth as she performs a breathy version of “Winter Wonderland” on top of a piano. The 360-view gives viewers a look at the custom evening dress the actress designed with the Topshop team.
The dress and shoes she wears will be available on the retailer’s website as a special made-to-order in conjunction with their new L.A. location opening in February. The makeup will be available for order immediately.
“I think Kate looks effortlessly cool in this film, her voice is spellbinding and I can imagine every girl will want to be wearing Topshop this Christmas when they see her performance,” said the brand’s creative director Kate Phelan.
Topshop has been teasing Bosworth’s involvement with a competition that ran photos of the actress behind the scenes and at iconic London landmarks but with her face obscured. Shoppers who guessed her identity correctly could win shopping sprees at their stores.
This isn’t the first time Bosworth has lent her singing voice—the actress sang for Cotton Inc.’s “The Fabric of My Life” television campaign last year. This time, though, Bosworth’s cover of “Winter Wonderland” will be available for download on iTunes.
