MTV News named Kanye West and Lady Gaga as 2010’s man and woman of the year, beating out other notable pop stars like Justin Bieber, Katy Perry and Eminem.

Even without a new studio album this year, Lady Gaga ruled the pop world in 2010 thanks to her non-stop touring, consistent hit singles and highly-anticipated music videos for Telephone and Alejandro. Gaga also cemented her style icon status this year with some of the fashion world’s most talked about red carpet choices, including the infamous meat dress she donned for the VMAs.

Kanye West was still smarting from his tiff with Taylor Swift at the beginning of 2010, but got back in pop culture’s good graces with the critically acclaimed album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, his art-inspired short for Power and his 30 minute, self-directed video for Runaway.

No stranger to taking risks, we can’t wait to see what’s to come from these style-savvy stars in 2011.
