If you’re looking for a feel-good comedy during TIFF, Jucy is the film for you. In the spirit of Muriel’s Wedding this Australian-made (and heavily accented) flick is a perfectly endearing portrait of a delicate friendship.
Francesca Gasteen and Cindy Nelson play Jackie and Lucy, a pair of co-dependent 20-somethings working in the local video store. When an outsider refers to their close friendship as a “womance”, the two take offense and make it their mission to find boyfriends and swanky jobs. Their adventure in landing these things is full of comedy and heart-warming highlights.
