Flare: Who is your favourite designer? Haydain Neale: “I’m not fashion conscious day to day. I’ve always feared that too much focus on my look would somehow weaken the music. On stage, I stick to smart, clean suits that hang well… Theory, Hugo Boss, the dapper Alexander McQueen stuff.”
F: What’s your biggest fashion pet peeve? H.N.: “Camel toe. On either sex, it’s the only true abomination.”
F: What does the word “Style” mean to you? H.N.: “Style is what makes you feel like a million bucks. How you present yourself should be fun and comfortable and give off the right message about how you feel. Style is the perfect compliment to how you feel inside I guess.”
F: What is in your CD player right now? H.N.: “Madonna Confessions On A Dance Floor, Prince 3121 and Portishead Dummy.”
F: What do you think is the one CD/album everyone should own? H.N.: “James Brown, Live At The Apollo.”
F: What’s the one item you cannot leave home without? “Mac Powerbook. My whole world is in that thing.”
F: What was the last book you read? H.N.: “Irshad Manji’s The Trouble With Islam.”
F: What was the last movie you saw? H.N.: “Spike Lee’s Inside Man. ”
F: Would you describe yourself as high or low maintenance? H.N.: “Low maintenance. When you love what you do for a living, you tend not to sweat the small stuff.”
