Last week I was lucky enough to be in Paris during the couture presentations. The entire experience was froth and fabulousness and utter fantasy. Paris for couture is the ultimate fashion dream, in which previously imagined figments come to life: all the glitter and glamour is real for two or three blurry days before the inevitable plane ride back to reality.
A highlight was an invitation to celebrate Alber Elbaz’s collection for Lancôme. At the Trianon Theatre at the foot of Montmartre, the crème de la crème of international fashion’s jet set converged to toast Elbaz and the whimsically illustrated makeup he created for the French company. Like a modern day Moulin Rouge, feathered showgirls circulated through the dancing (and very well-dressed) crowd, glittering confetti rained down, and flutes upon flutes of champagne were swallowed while Sharleen Spiteri and Texas performed. Check out party photos featuring just some of the A-List guests.
