Flare is There: Victoria's Secret Show

We take you front row and backstag of the greatest show on earth

Fashiondom can be a very strange place. The day started off by heading to the Lexington Armory – a historic site in NYC that houses military archives and also has men walking around in fatigues – but on the 5th floor was a room filled with Victoria’s Secret babes dressed down to their pink silk robes.

I met for interviews with some VS’s biggest bombshells: Karolina Kurkova, Canada’s Jessica Stam and Rosie Hungtington-Whitely, the new star of Transformers 3. Rosie is even more gorgeous in person with pouty pink lips that put Angelina’s to shame. Originally from the UK (Jason Statham is her bf), she had flown all night to arrive for the 6am call time and was surviving on “adrenaline” and “youth”. I swear, these girls are like unicorns; Just ridiculously pretty and utterly enchanting.

After interviewing makeup guru Tom Pecheaux who described the direction as very “California girl” (dewy with lots of bronzer), I left the building but not before checking out the closed rehearsals with Katy Perry. The new bride and former FLARE cover girl looked amazing in a custom Victoria’s Secret corsets.

After the press rotations I headed back to the hotel to get ready for the big event. With gold ticket in hand, a new Victoria’s Secret lace bra and VS lipgloss, I descended on the pink carpet and to my [very excellent] seat. The place was crawling with PYTs and star power. On the fashion side you saw Paris Vogue’s Carine Roitfeld and daughter Julia, designer Alexander Wang and Elle’s Kate Lanphear. On the celeb side you saw Gerard Butler arm-in-arm with former FLARE cover girl Malin Akerman (new couple alert?), Vin Diesel, Maroon 5’s Adam Levine (there to cheer on his model girlfriend), Russell Simmons and Entourage’s Adrien Grenier. It’s a safe bet that none of these bold-faced names were there for the fashion but only the Victoria’s Secret runway show can bring such a mix of people together.

The show, of course, was a complete spectacle. From Adriana Lima’s first steps in a studded leather jacket and chaps to Chanel Iman’s bubble wing closer , the catwalk was a total party festooned with feathers, glitter and balloons. Akon and Katy Perry both performed and had everyone dancing in their Louboutins. Brilliant!

After the big event we headed to the after-party where we saw even more celebs (Nikki Hilton and Serena Williams are bffs?) dancing away with the Angels. It was a surreal sight but closed the evening with a bottle of champagne, and raised our glasses to the entire VS experience.
