The full Hunger Games trailer premiered on Good Morning America earlier today, and it’s everything we hoped it would be. Director Gary Ross seems to have stayed true to the grim atmosphere of Suzanne Collins’s dystopian YA bestsellers, which revolve around a group of 24 teenagers fighting each other to the death on television. We’re especially impressed with rising star (and red carpet favourite) Jennifer Lawrence: as main character Katniss Everdeen, she delivers her lines with the same tough-girl grit that won her an Oscar nom for Winter’s Bone. (We may have teared up a little when she volunteered to take her younger sister’s place in the deadly competition. Maybe.) The movie doesn’t come out until March 2012, which leaves more than enough time for the uninitiated to read Collins’ trilogy first. Fair warning, though: you won’t want to leave the house. -Allison Friedman
