Men, you know what’s a turn-on for us gals? Blackmail. I’m telling you, nothing makes us want to get all “lovey dovey on you” (Joe’s words, not mine) more than a friendly threat or two.
Seriously, though, what was Joe thinking? And I’m not just referring to his threatening Samantha that he’d share her oh-so-incriminating text with the group. I’m also referring to his wanting to get back together with her in the first place! He vacillates between seeming done with her and desperately wanting her back, making me wonder if there’s a producer’s toying to credit here. After all, Samantha has proven to be both untrustworthy and terrifying. She’s the sort of woman who would break up with you on your birthday for no better reason than wanting to disassociate herself from you for the drama you caused on her behalf. Doesn’t he realize that if she ever actually cared for him, she would have stood by him? I truly don’t understand what he sees in her, other than her looks which he goes on and on about. But uh, is there anything else about her that appeals to him?
I’ve vented about this before, but I do wish more men would develop an arsenal of adjectives beyond “hot,” “beautiful” and “amazing” when describing their ladies of interest. It goes both ways: Have we heard Ashley I. describe anything she appreciates about Jared other than his jawline, bone structure, and general “perfect”-ness? What makes him perfect, Ashley?? More importantly, what makes him perfect for you? There are SO many deliciously good words to choose from! I’d be lying if I said none of us appreciate being told we’re attractive, but by far the most memorable, touching compliments I’ve ever received were about traits I possess that have nothing to do with my appearance. Just sayin’.
An entertaining surprise this week was Joe and Ashley I. commiserating over their, uh, misery (#redundancy). It was funny to me how Joe’s capacity to comfort and relate to Ashley I. came to a screeching halt when she began to pour her damaged feelings all over him. Yet, later, when she was game to strategize with him about how best to “win” Samantha back, he was all for it. That’s what you call a good, reciprocal friendship, ladies and gents. Surprising nobody, Samantha didn’t respond warmly to Joe’s attempt to “start fresh” with her. But then again, I think we all would know better than to seek relationship advice from Ashley I. who, while a sweetheart, has a bit to learn in that department.
Newcomer Justin arrived this week to join the queue of men wanting to date Samantha. (Did anyone else catch Dan casually say in an ITM that he, too, wanted to get to know her better? What was that about??) To Justin’s credit, he didn’t only compliment her on her looks but ventured so far as to call her a good “conversator.” (It’s a start. A for effort, Justin.) Much to Joe’s chagrin, Samantha accepted Justin’s date invite. I have to admit, I can’t wait to see the aftermath of that date since by now we all know Joe, model Southern gentleman that he is, responds to bruises to his ego by seeking revenge.
