Nicki Minaj’s identity crisis just got a little more complicated. The pop singer’s entourage, whose multiple personalities are defined by the ever-changing works of art on her head, is official one (very vital) man short. Celebrity hairstylist Terrence Davidson, the mane man behind Minaj’s wig selection has decided to part ways with the “Starships” diva, citing creative differences and the desire to pursue other opportunities.
“It has been an amazing experience offering me a chance to express my creativity and exhibit my love for the art form of wig design,” wrote Davidson in an official statement.
Davidson’s artful wigs have fast become an iconic representation of Minaj’s brand and reputation as a performing artist. After a working relationship of three years, speculation for what really happened is deserved.
Celebuzz reported that the breakup comes after Nicki and her management directed “a series of derogatory statements” towards Davidson. While it’s public knowledge that Minaj has a track record of fueling feuds, the hairstylist tweeted that this isn’t true.
Davidson, whose celebrity clients also include Jennifer Hudson, Mary J. Blige, and Keisha Cole, will continue to have his work seen through the month of February on Minaj during the American Idol tapings.
“I am very proud of the body of work built with Nicki Minaj and I appreciate the support over the years from fans who’ve expressed love for my craft,” he wrote. In the meantime, how will Minaj handle this hairy situation?
