Summer Festival Season is Here
The Luminato Festival kicked off its opening night with a glam fête under the soaring steel of the Allan Lambert Galleria at Brookfield Place in Toronto last Friday night. Yves Saint Laurent was on hand to provide free makeup touch-ups in the YSL Colours lounge, personally engraved Touche Éclat eye illuminating pens (one FLARE staffer had hers engraved with "BFF") and hand-rolled cigars in the La Nuit de L’Homme gentleman's lounge.
STOCKPILE, an installation (pictuerd here) that will surely cause a double take in the Financial District during the Festival, is a giant arcade game with a human "claw" controlled by the public to pick up the melange of goodies inside. Guests were lined up to try their hand at the joysticks to win one of the prizes, which were donated by the public (like the inflatable dolphin won by fashion editor Truc Nguyen). Guests including artist Marina Abramoviu0107, Rufus Wainwright, Wilem Defoe, Jeanne Beker and more of the Festival's glitterati stopped on the red carpet before heading inside. See who else we spotted as one of Toronto's premiere summer festivals kickstarted the season. Luminato runs until June 23.
