Fierce-O-Meter: This Week's Most Fearless Females on TV

Flat screen, flat screen on the wall, who was the fiercest of them all? We rank the week in television on a scale of 1 to 5 Beyoncés

For years, our small screens were awash in angsty male antiheros. Dark and tortured Don Draper types who wouldn’t know fierce if it kicked them in the cojones. Lately though, the TV tide seems to be shifting with a surplus of super fly females from surgeons to sorority queen bees. To mark the moment in Grrrrrrl Power, we’re rounding up the most butt-kicking women on the boob tube each week.

Following his release from prison, Lucious invites the whole family over for a conciliatory feast—one that looks like the spread at a Game of Thrones wedding (the part before everyone gets their guts ripped out). Too bad for him, Cookie would rather drag untold sums worth of meat and bubbly onto the floor than break bread. There’s no use crying over spilled milk, but wasted Champers is a different story.

Not all moments of fierceness need to involve the dramatic upending of a dinner table. Meredith’s decision to demand more than the lowball offer that comes with her new chief of surgery contract shows that she is ready to stand on her own two sensible regulation footwear-clad feet.

Is it a good time for women in Hollywood? Schumer wonders at the beginning of her masterful SNL opening monologue where she transitions swiftly from Kardashian-dissing* to dating Bradley Cooper to the drinking habits of Hillary Clinton (vodka, please). With A-1 material, killer delivery and the ability to compare her body to a lava lamp (woosh-woosh) without sounding pitiful, Schumer may be the female voice to eviscerate the whole “funny for a girl” fallacy once and for all, which means it’s a great time for women in Hollywood…if you’re Amy Schumer.

Yes, the Kardashians are mostly an embarrassment to womankind, but mom-ager Kris’ revelation that she and her 34-year-old boyfriend Corey Gamble are having “too much sex” is almost as awesome for women over fifty as it is mortifying for the rest of the K-klub.
