Fierce-O-Meter: This Week's Most Fearless Females on TV

Flat screen, flat screen on the wall, who was the fiercest of them all? We rank the week in television on a scale of 1 to 5 Beyoncés

For years, our small screens were awash in angsty male antiheros. Dark and tortured Don Draper types who wouldn’t know fierce if it kicked them in the cojones. Lately though, the TV tide seems to be shifting with a surplus of super fly females from surgeons to sorority queen bees. To mark the moment in Grrrrrrl Power, we’re rounding up the most butt-kicking women on the boob tube each week.

“Yes this sweater is ugly, but it is ugly enough to wear to George Clooney’s ugly Christmas sweater party?” Piggy asks herself, posing a question that every woman should get a chance to ask herself at least once.

The ladies go on a girls’ trip to Miami, because what else is there to do when you’re forced to film endless hours together as members a faux #squad? During dinner, housewife #1 asks housewife #2 whether she’s ever slept with #1’s ex, prompting new kid Fields to ask the group: “Are we grown-ass women talking like this?” Later on the same trip, Fields says she wants to go home because she “[doesn’t] understand just dancing with girls to just dance.” Talk about challenging that status quo!!!

Carrie Mathison, Homeland

While Saul and the rest of the CIA are inexplicably willing to act on bogus intelligence given by the traitorous Allison, Carrie goes rogue. True, she’s not technically an agent anymore—details, details—but her uncommon combination of brains and balls have, once again landed her at centre of the action, chasing the bad guy into a dark subway tunnel. Did we mention that the fate of Germany is resting on her shoulders? Finally, an edge-of-your-seat ep that didn’t have us longing for Brody.
