For years, our small screens were awash in angsty male antiheros. Dark and tortured Don Draper types who wouldn’t know fierce if it kicked them in the cojones. Lately though, the TV tide seems to be shifting with a surplus of super fly females from surgeons to sorority queen bees. To mark the moment in Grrrrrrl Power, we’re rounding up the most butt-kicking women on the boob tube each week.
Mindy Lahiri, The Mindy Project
Sick and tired of her overbearing baby daddy and being cooped up in her apartment for hours on end, Mindy does what any new mom would do—she breaks out in the middle of the night and heads to the nearest bar wearing her two-piece pajamas. Because no man (even a really tiny and adorable one that recently emerged from her private parts) is going to tell her she can’t have fun. And also because where else can you order a body shot after midnight? Watch it now on City.

Annaliese Keating, How To Get Away With Murder
On a show that is almost as devoted to challenging convention as it is to implausible plotlines, don’t expect women-of-a-certain-age to fulfill any of the outdated stereotypes. This week Analiese and Eve (played by the ridonk-ulously fierce Famke Jansen) proved that old flames die hard and also that that two fifty-plus females getting it on can be seriously, undeniably, someone-pass-the-me-a-cigarette steamy.

Olivia Pope, Scandal
After years of denying her relationship with Fitz, Liv shocked the world (and the Twittersphere) with a single word: “Yes.” As in, yes hundreds of reporters shoving microphones in my face—yes I am getting it on with the president. And also, yes, I still look this good even though I spent last night in a fleabag motel haven’t showered in 48 hours…now what are you gonna do about it?
