Fierce-O-Meter: The Week’s Most Fearless Females on TV

Flat screen, flat screen on the wall, who was the fiercest of them all? We rank the week in television on a scale of 1 to 5 Beyoncés

For years, our small screens were awash in angsty male antiheros. Dark and tortured Don Draper types who wouldn’t know fierce if it kicked them in the cojones. Lately though, the TV tide seems to be shifting with a surplus of super fly females from surgeons to sorority queen bees. To mark the moment in Grrrrrrl Power, we’re rounding up the most butt-kicking women on the boob tube each week.

Chelsea Handler, Chelsea Does

The first ep of Handler’s new Netflix documentary series looks at marriage—as an institution and as the thing that Chelsea has been poo-pooing all these years. Handler’s fierceness is on full display when she drops in on a stagette celebration, does a bunch of shots and then toasts the bride, wishing her a great wedding and a lovely divorce.

Khloe Kardashian, Kocktails With Khloe

The youngest (and booziest) of the three K sisters invites a random group of gal pals (plus Snoop Dog) over to her pad to chill and swill and debate whether doing it in a private plane makes one a member of the Mile High Club. Have we passed peak Kardashian? Is there even such a thing? “Yes bitches—it’s another Kardashian show. You love it,” says Khlo, speaking directly into camera. As Snoop plays a party game that requires him to wear a wig and pretend to be Farah Abrahms from the teen mom show, it’s hard to argue with her.

Sarah Palin, Saturday Night Live

Obvs we’re not talking about the real S-Pal here, but rather her spectacular SNL alter-ego Tina Fey, who came home to send up the latest (and certainly sparkliest) appearance of everyone’s favourite Alaskan. Reenacting Palin’s instantly infamous endorsement of Donald Trump in Iowa last week, Fey squawks and shimmies and finger-gun points her way through a skit that reminds us of the upside to having a bunch of whack jobs vying for the most powerful posts on the planet. (And also, how many words rhyme with roller.)
Fierce factor: 4/5 Beyoncés

P.S. Relax X-Files junkies. Last night’s episode was the first in a two-parter (continuing tonight), which means the return of Agent Scully will be covered next week. For now the fierce (along with the truth) remains out there.
