“How much do I reveal about myself? How do I stay current? How do I stay soulful?” — Beyoncé
In a month’s time, music powerhouse Beyoncé will make her directorial debut in Life Is But A Dream, a new documentary for HBO highlighting the star’s battle in the spotlight.
“I felt like I had been so commercially successful…it wasn’t enough,” shared Mrs. Jay-Z in the flicks new trailer. “[There was] something really stressful about having to keep up with that. You can’t express yourself. You can’t grow. It is the battle of my life.”
Lady B was recently certified by GQ as the hottest woman of the past thirteen years and soon-to-be Superbowl headliner (with her Destiny’s Child bandmates!), there’s no doubt all eyes are on Beyoncé when it comes to her public persona and musical craft.
The 88-minute special will take viewers inside the artist’s life on tour, at home and through the early stages of her pregnancy. From flip cam clips to camera phone recordings, much of the doc was filmed and edited by the star herself.
Unlike many over-produced star-focused machine-driven docs, Beyoncé offers a gritty and honest view inside her life without the gloss.
Beyoncé: Life Is But A Dream airs February 16 at 9PM EST on HBO Canada.
