DJ Alexandra Richards: Six Favourite Things

The daughter of Keith Richards shares her off-duty musts.

As a model, DJ and professional party-hopper, Alexandra Richards pulls style inspiration from her jet-setting agenda (Argentina, Sweden and Russia are all stamped on her passport), fashion insider status (she’s spun for Fendi and posed for Mario Testino) and–of course–her fashionable parents, model Patti Hansen and Rolling Stone Keith Richards. Her latest stop: Toronto, where Richards DJed the Right To Play Party supporting sports and games programs in disadvantaged communities (the party for 300 raised $80,000). We caught up with her on the rooftop lounge of Toronto’s luxurious Thompson Hotel to find out about all her current obsessions.

MICHAEL KORS FALL/WINTER COLLECTION
“I love sweaters and he had all of these big hanging sweaters–like down to the floor.”

HERVE LEGER DRESS
“A tight dress by Herve Leger is great. I mean, it always works for me, to show off the figure when you’re feeling good about it.”

ETTA JAMES BIOGRAPHIES

“She is my music icon. I’ve read almost all of her biographies. Even if she didn’t have any input in them I read them anyways.”

’90s DANCE MUSIC

“I find that always gets people going. ‘Finally’ by CeCe Peniston, I feel like as soon as you break that out, everybody knows it. It’s such an international song. I was playing it down in South America and everyone was like ‘yes! “Fi-na-lly”!’ They don’t even know English, but they know every word in English.”

MAYBELLINE GREAT LASH MASCARA

“It’s not that fancy but it does the job and I’ve been using it for years.”

THE BEACH
“My girlfriends who went to school down in Miami, I’m like, ‘How did you even show up to school?’ That’s crazy. I would be out on the beach every day, you know, but that’s me. They’re like, ‘We actually did show up for class,’ so good for you.”
