Paulina Gretzky: In Her Own Words
On her music: "I’ve been doing a tonne of music right now, but until I love it, I’m not gonna put it out there. When I was 16, I picked up my bags and went to Sweden. I went after the FLARE photo shoot that September. I had a different manager at the time and he put me on a plane and said go work with this producer. It was the biggest waste of my time. It was too impulsive and it was stupid. But I did realize there that I loved to write songs. I knew I could really write and I could do what everybody else was doing."
On what her songs are about: "There are so many different parts…from the expectations everybody has for me that put me in the shadow of my father, and I’m just trying to live my own life, and they need to relax and let me be and see that I’m a 23 year old girl. Everybody’s trying to put words in my father’s mouth, that he’s punished me for certain things and that never happened and it’s absurd to me."
