10:30 A.M. After a morning stuck in London’s notoriously bad traffic, Natalie Dormer arrives at the homey Tea Room Studio and steps straight into hair and makeup. Hairstylist Ali Pirzadeh creates an edgy ’do using salt spray and dry shampoo. He also darkens her roots, causing Natalie to jokingly kvetch that he’s undermining her claims of being a natural blonde. (She is; we can vouch.)
11:30 A.M. While some might balk at wearing such a daring deep V, Natalie doesn’t blink when presented with a black slit-to-there Sportmax (must be all the plunging gowns she wears as the scheming Margaery Tyrell on Game of Thrones). When she steps in front of David Roemer’s camera, it’s apparent she hasn’t forgotten the ballet training from her youth—Natalie’s perfect posture and elegant movement make posing a breeze.
1 P.M. Natalie provides her own playlist for the shoot, a mix that includes Morrissey, Diana Ross and Rihanna. She sings along to her favourites, including Ross’s “My Old Piano,” calling out the diva as “one of the last living legends.” (FYI: Ross’s son Evan is Natalie’s castmate in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay.)
3 P.M. Natalie slips into a steely blue Hugo Boss jacket and trousers (sans shirt), adding a faux-fur Marina Rinaldi coat and Jimmy Choos. She crouches down like a lioness on alert, the pose playing up her feline features. “This is a Natalie Dormer suit,” she declares: “This is is me!”
