Our hearts broke all over again when we realized he wasn't wearing his wedding ring

Just a week after announcing confirming that love is, in fact, dead with his heart-shattering split from Anna Faris, Chris Pratt popped by the Teen Choice Awards in Los Angeles on August 14. The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 actor was there to present an award with his Guardians costar Zoe Saldana. Pratt, 38, also took home the surfboards for Choice Action Movie Actor and Choice Sci-Fi Movie Actor. And in case you were still holding onto hope that these two cuties might get back together, Pratt appeared at the awards with a very naked wedding ring finger. *Sob*

Pratt and Faris—who got married in 2009 and have a five-year-old son, Jack—announced their separation on August 7 in a v. honest message posted on their social channels, in which they noted that they “had tried hard for a long time” and are “really disappointed.” Us too guys, us too.

As noted by Us Weekly, Faris has spoken out in the past about the challenges of being married to a fellow famous person. In episode 51 of her supes popular (and supes hilarious) podcast, Anna Faris is Unqualified, Faris talked to Isla Fisher about occasionally feeling insecure in her marriage: “I take pride in how great my relationship is with Chris, but having said that, of course, in this crazy world where he’s off doing movies and I’m in L.A. raising our child, of course I’m going to feel vulnerable, as any normal human would.”

Indeed, one of the things we loved most about Pratt and Faris was that they seemed like normal humans. Sure, he helms a blockbuster franchise—Guardians of the Galaxy—and she stars in the highly successful, long-running sitcom, Mom, but they also reportedly enjoy doing the laundry and working in the garage. And yes, they could just be *saying* this, but we’ve always completely bought the brand of normalcy this couple has sold. That said, being normal humans means they’re not immune to the relationship struggles we all contend with.

Here’s to future love and happiness for both parties.
