Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Victoria Beckham and Kanye West are among 150 celebrities joining forces today to raise awareness for the food crisis in East Africa.

The Twitter-atti will take to their Twitter feeds and Facebook walls with the goal of raising some much needed money for Save The Children. The independent organization’s mission is to bring food, water and medicine to the more than 10 million people in the region who are going without food and water.

It may not seem like much for the Twitter-obsessed Bieber and Kanye West to send out an extra tweet, but the duo alone have more than 15 million followers who could read about the campaign. The goal of today’s social media bombardment is to reach a global audience of 700 million people and raise awareness on a massive scale.

Supporters can download Bob Marley’s “High Tide or Low Tide” and an accompanying short film by The Last King of Scotland director Kevin MacDonald on iTunes to support the cause. Britney Spears, who has nearly 9 million followers, already supported the campaign that launched this morning by tweeting: “Just got @BobMarley’s ‘High Tide or Low Tide’ – proceeds go to children in #EastAfrica. U all can help…”
