While perennial Cannes fashion favourite Diane Kruger has certainly caught our eye at the festival this week, Freida Pinto has unexpectedly become the star that we’re predicting will end up creating the most memorable red carpet moments.
Earlier today, Freida sported the most laid-back of her looks at the festival so far – a geometric, midriff-baring Salvatore Ferragamo halter and skirt. The easy silhouette, exposed expanse of skin and the paneled print recall the luxe athleticism that dominated runways for spring.
Yesterday Freida walked the red carpet in a neon yellow Versace couture gown that managed to incorporate a peplum, lace and a thigh-high slit, all without sacrificing an ounce of elegance, thanks in part to a simple up-do and minimal accessories.
Freida also made her mark at the opening ceremonies of the festival in a playful gown by New York designer Michael Angel, featuring an embellished bodice and a flowing pale pink train with soft peplum detailing.
The actress is at the festival to promote her new film, Desert Dancer.
