Toronto-born actress Alison Pill–best known for her roles in Milk and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World–and Montreal-bred comedian, Jay Baruchel, are tying the knot.
At the Genie Awards last week, while receiving his Fan’s Choice Award, Baruchel let the cat out of the bag, thanking his “fiancee Alison” during his acceptance speech.
The pair got engaged over the holidays when Baruchel proposed to Pill with a 180-year-old Victorian ring, which was originally intended as a Christmas present. The 28-year-old Judd Apatow protégé told reporters, “I decided in that moment that I might as well call a spade a spade. I’m pretty sure my words were ‘F— it. Do you want to marry me?'”
The two Canucks began dating on the Winnipeg set of hockey flick Goon late last year. They are planning a September 2012 wedding.
