JOSEPH OF MERCURY
Joseph W. Salusbury, 25, launched his art-pop project—formerly known as Joseph & the Mercurials—on New Year’s Eve 2011, after the object of his affections disappeared into the Toronto night without even a glance in his direction. The next day, he started writing songs on his acoustic guitar and couldn’t stop. The results are a passionate fusion of doo-wop and synthpop that shows off Salusbury’s resonant vocals and emotional intensity, both of which inspire mass swooning among his many fashion industry admirers.
ONSTAGE STYLE: “A hand covered in rings to catch the light, pants with some stretch, heavier military boots for control, and Krane’s black leather collar/tuxedo dickey, to take the place of a shirt and keep my temperature down.”
UP NEXT: His debut album is in the works.
