Julianne Moore, style icon and star of the upcoming movie Blindness
FLARE’s September cover shoot
Milk Studios, New York City
June 2, 2008
Favourite movie: Into the Wild
Favourite fashion era: the ’70s
Most incredible trip: “Driving from Long Island, N.Y., to California alone when I was six months’ pregnant with my son.”
Charity of choice: Moore currently sits on the board of pro-choice organization Planned Parenthood and works in support of U.S. campaigns for international nonprofit organization Save the Children.
Side project: Moore has recently written a children’s book, Freckleface Strawberry, to be published by Bloomsbury. It’s about the trials of a little girl who has red hair and freckles.
On photo shoots: “I like photo shoots a lot, because I feel like that’s it more controlled than the red carpet and I don’t feel like I am paraded around for a picture.”
On ego: “It’s impossible to be really vain as an actor”
On shooting Blindness: “It was shot in Guelph in an abandoned institution for the criminally insane. That’s where we did most of the shooting. It’s a grey old building that had these wards in it, bucolic grounds we parked our trailers outside and go to work every day there.”
On filming in Canada: “It is fantastic, great place to make a movie; my kids love it as much as I do.”
