Angelina Jolie has been photographed leaving Ridley Scott’s London offices with what looks like a script, prompting rumours that the director’s long-awaited Gucci project may finally be getting off the ground. Two years ago, Variety reported that Scott was working on a movie about the rise of the Gucci fashion house in the ’70s and ’80s and the eventual 1995 murder of its heir, Maurizio Gucci. Jolie had been approached to play Maurizio’s ex-wife, Patrizia Reggiano, who was sentenced to 29 years in jail for ordering the hit. The long-germinating project was originally slated for a 2010 release.
Jolie’s cornered the market on femme fatales, so we’d love to see what she’d do as a sultry Italian murderess. We’ll also be keeping an eye out for Leonardo DiCaprio around Scott’s office: he was once loosely linked to the role of Maurizio. The only thing more exciting than seeing Angeleo in action is the promise of all that vintage Gucci. -Allison Friedman
