Lamar Odom just got real honest. In an interview with US Weekly, the retired pro basketball player opened up about his drug use and multiple affairs during his marriage to Khloé Kardashian. While Khloé has been pretty tight-lipped about what went on with her and her ex, Odom’s confessions are, well, heartbreaking. Here’s seven things we learned from Odom’s emotional interview.

He was addicted to cocaine
Odom admitted that he hid his drug use for awhile, but eventually Khloé caught him getting high two years before they split. “I’m not going to say she accepted it because that would be the wrong word,” Odom told US. “‘Tolerated’ would be a better word.”

He wishes he could have kept his “dick in his pants”
Being on TV made him more “enticing,” said the 37-year-old. “Bitches and THOTs came out of the woodwork” thanks to all the attention he was getting from shows Keeping Up With The Kardashians and Khloé & Lamar. The athlete admitted he had multiple affairs with different women while married—and regrets it. “That wasn’t the stand-up thing to do. I wish I could have kept my dick in my pants,” he said.

After he split from the Kardashian, his life became “all about drugs”
When he moved out of the home he shared with Khloé and into his own apartment, Odom and friend Jamie Sangouthai (who passed away in 2015) “turned the drug use up to another level.” Odom said that his drug addiction helped end his career, and killed his drive to want to train and be in shape.

He doesn’t remember what happened that night at the brothel
Odom went to a Nevada brothel in October 2015 because he was home alone and “bored.” He says that while he might have had a drink to start off the night, he wasn’t drunk or on drugs. “I remember lying in bed. Two women were in bed and then I fell asleep. That’s all,” he said. He ended up suffering 12 strokes and two heart attacks after being found comatose, and was taken to hospital. “When I woke up four days later, I was trying to pull the tubes out of my mouth.”

Khloé was his rock
While spending months in hospital learning how to walk and talk again, Khloé stayed by Odom’s side and helped him recover. While they didn’t reconnect romantically, she “played a major role” in helping Odom get his memory back. “I kept thinking, ‘Am I paralyzed forever? Am I mute forever?’ It was scary shit. Faith got me through.”

He’s sober now
Odom’s daughter gave him an ultimatum after seeing how drugs were destroying the star’s life. He entered treatment at San Diego’s Casa Palmera rehab center in January. “Living sober—meaning no drugs—is a great feeling. Being in the moment is important—how you react, respond, create,” he said. “If I would have done coke last night, you would have gotten some dickhead here trying to get out of here fast. But you’re getting Lamar now.”

He’s not done with the spotlight yet
Now that he’s taking care of himself, Odom is working on a docuseries and an autobiography that’s set to come out this year.
