When superstar dance DJ deadmau5 arrived to announce the Juno nominations at Toronto’s Design Exchange on Tuesday, February 3 in his trademark mouse-head helmet, it was a clear sign: the fashion is going to be, um, eclectic at the 2012 Junos. With scruffy dudes with guitars City and Colour, Dan Mangan, Hedley and Nickelback tied with Feist and Drake for a leading four nominations, fans of red carpet glamour will be looking to some of this year’s new faces.
Edmonton-born Best New Artist nominee Alyssa Reid, 18, is considering the younger looks of Sherri Hill, a frequent fave of Selena Gomez. Meanwhile, Dance Recording of the Year nominee Mia Martina is going with a one-woman institution. “I saw a really beautiful Diane Von Furstenberg gown,” she says. “It’s gorgeous. Long, black, slit, sexy, but classic.”
