Measha Brueggergosman

FEATURED ARTIST
Measha Brueggergosman

When did you realize classical music was your forte?
I started lessons when I was 7 and haven’t looked back since.

Favourite classical musician
Ella Fitzgerald. I know she’s not a “core” classical artist, but she had the technique and musicianship of one.

Where does your amazing sense of self stem from?
It comes from my faith in Jesus Christ and knowing that He’s the one ultimately in control. Not me.

What’s in your iPod, other than classical music?
I don’t own an iPod (I’m suspicious of monopolized technology). I don’t listen to classical music in my spare time. Jann Arden, Journey, Queen, Ron Sexsmith, Ron Hines, Cajun Dance Party, Justin Timberlake, Pierre Lapointe, and Doba Caracol are a few.

What’s the first thing people say or think when they meet you?
You have great hair.

Who are your biggest fans?
Toddlers and cats

If you were reincarnated in the classical ages, who would you come back as and why?
I have to watch a couple seasons of Rome to decide.

Who are your favourite JUNO Award nominees?
Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Jully Black, Christos Hatzis, Marc-André Hamelin, Daniel Bélanger, Loreena McKennitt, Joni Mitchell.
