TUESDAY TEST-DRIVE: ROSY LIPS

The best balm for your buck

Personal taste in lip balm can be extremely selective and meticulous. Taste, smell, texture, application, and hydration are all pivotal factors. A classic favourite we’ve spotted in many a stylista’s handbag is Smith’s Rosebud Salve, a coral coloured jack-of-all-trades moisturizer that comes in a sweet apothecary-esque tin. We decided to put it to the test along with Dior’s luxe new balm Crème de Rose:

Smith’s Rosebud Salve, $9: The jelly-like texture leaves lips with a feeling of extra-hydration and we don’t feel like we have to re-apply it every 20 minutes. We also dabbed the all-purpose moisturizer on the top of our nails for a little cuticle love. It’s a great secret weapon to keep in your handbag to use for glossing your pout, moisturizing dry patches, and last-minute eyebrow grooming. Available across Canada at Sephora, call 1-877-SEPHORA.
Dior Crème de Rose Smoothing Plumping Balm, $29: As the name would suggest, this formula is a creamier, sweeter take on a rosy balm, with shea butter and vitamins A and E. The package is just as chic, and more discrete. The scent and taste are also more subtle––great for those sensitive to fragrance––and we love that is has SPF 10, though we didn’t notice any plumping side effects. Available across Canada at Dior counters.
