Tuesday Test-Drive: Long Live Your Lips

This week we're testing long-wear red lipsticks

Bright pouts are definitely a do for Spring, but who wants to be caught with a smeared pucker or a barely-there outline post-lunch? Let’s face it––constant colour application isn’t exactly realistic while zooming around the office (or at a special occasion). That’s why we decided to put three high-powered tubes to the test that claim to be up for the all-day challenge. Verdict? We were pleasantly surprised––all of them made it the whole day (with meals!) with very little touch-ups.

CoverGirl Continuous Color Lipstick, in Classic Red, $9: This shade was more sheer than the rest and thus made it even lower maintenance. The lighter formula made this “red” tube more of a bright fuschia, which was a delightful turn of events. Available across Canada at mass-market retailers.

Clinique Long Last Soft Shine Lipstick in Red Red Red, $18: If we had to pick a favourite (we loved them all!) this would be it, if only because the hue was a little on the orange side, which is right on trend for Spring (see the gals at Prada). The formula was super creamy with the right amount of shine. Available across Canada at Clinique counters.

Giorgio Armani Rouge d’Armani Lipstick in 400, $38: This shade was the truest red of all and also had the most saturated, opaque colour. It seriously lasted so long with minor touch-ups that we needed to enlist the help of makeup remover before bed. Available across Canada at Holt Renfrew.
