Many a makeup artist will tell you that polished brows are a bare essential in your morning routine. You may think you only need mascara and lipgloss to get out the door, but you’d be shocked to know the wonders a filled-in brow can work on your face, especially if you’re not wearing much else.

Almay Brow Defining Pencil in Dark Blonde, $9: This pencil comes in a colour that suits blondes and redheads alike––not an easy shade to find. The tip was tiny but had a very firm texture––best used for creating precise, hair-like strokes. It also comes with a brow brush at one end, which is great for when you goof on those delicate pencil marks. Available at drugstores and mass-market retailers.

Benefit Instant Brow Pencil in Light, $25: This pencil goes on with more of a soft-focus effect, which is ideal for beginners or those who don’t have time to burn. The colour was just as flattering and blending in the shade with the brow brush left us groomed to perfection.
Available across Canada at Shoppers Drug Mart Beauty Boutique, Murale, Sephora and select Holt Renfrew.
