Digging Through Anna Dello Russo’s fashion week suitcase or Margherita Missoni’s jewellery box is a sartorial snoop most can only dream of. But for the Coveteur gang, exploring the fashion elite’s closets—then styling, shooting and sharing for all to see on their wildly successful site—is the daily to-do. We caught Canadian founders Erin Kleinberg, Stephanie Mark and Jake Rosenberg as they partnered with Maybelline to capture backstage moments through their signature art-of-display lens at Toronto Fashion Week.
“Our readers want to know beauty secrets,” explains Kleinberg, who divulges plans to expand the site with more hair and makeup content. “We’ve shot over 300 people, so we’ve learned many tips.” Before they were big-time, the girls met at a Jewish summer camp in Sudbury, Ont., where the tweens roughed it scrubbing toilets and sleeping in tents. “We were never the types to have a tube of mascara on us,” confesses Mark, the brunette half of the wholesome twosome. “But it’s just as essential as a great bag.”
