Beauty Diary: The ShOws Day 1, Bellavance and Calla

We went backstage at The ShOws in Toronto to get an insider's look at the beauty!

A long white table covered in hot hair appliances, hairspray cans, neon ribbons, makeup and mirrors dominated the backstage of The ShOws last night in Toronto. Hair stylists, makeup artists and models on all sides, working like a well-oiled beautifying machine. It was show time—well, almost—the Bellavance show was starting in twenty minutes and Calla’s presentation was to follow shortly after. COVERGIRL makeup pro Amélie Ducharme and Pantene Pro-V consulting stylist Justin German took on their roles as leaders of the fast-paced, organized chaos with ease and even set aside time to explain the looks to us.

Bellavance SS’14

German used Pantene Pro-V Stylers Anti-Humidity Hairspray and Pantene Pro-V Volume Root Lifting Spray Gel to create a natural, it-girl cool that complimented the structured pieces of the Bellavance collection.

Ducharme took the very popular ombre look for hair and applied it to the lids of the models. With a combination of COVERGIRL Flamed Out Shadow Pencil in Crystal Flame, Flamed Out Shadow Pot in Blazing White and Eye Enhancers 4-Kit Shadow in Tropical Fusion, the inner lids of the models were a bright white which eventually turned into a copper by the outerlid. The result is soft from a distance but the copper beside the white is quite dramatic up-close.

The Bellavance Look

The nails at Bellavance were a gorgeous pink with rounded black tip proving the best accessory is an interesting nail.

Calla SS’14

The hair for Calla was a spunky series of pig-tails and side-swung, fish-tail braids with neon-ribbon interlaced. German had his team make perfectly smooth braids using Pantene Pro-V No Crunch Curls Whip and Pantene Pro-V Stylers Anti-Humidity Hairspray before pulling at select-knots achieving a disheveled look. Very fitting for the California girl theme of the show.

Ducharme went pretty and fresh for the makeup using COVERGIRL’s Flamed Out Shadow Pencil in Ginger Flame and Eye Enhancers 3-Kit Shadow in Café on the eyes and the perfectly-named LipPerfection (in Darling). The result was a youthful, soft and pretty complexion that left the neon hair accessories to bring the spunk.
