Looking for a unique shade in a sea of rosy pinks and reds? Mixing products to get the exact colour you desire is twice the fun, and the possibilities are endless. Backstage at the Calla Haynes show for The Shows, where models sported bright pink lips, we were taught a runway trick by CoverGirl makeup pro Greg Wencel. He started with CoverGirl NatureLuxe Gloss Balm in Coral to prep and condition, then he combined CoverGirl Lip Perfection Lipsticks in Fairytale, a watermelon pink, and Flame, a coral red, for the perfect spring lip. A dusting of translucent loose powder overtop gave a matte finish. When describing the inspiration for the makeup, Wencel called it a fresh, modern take on the ’60s, which came through with both the vibrant lip and the dramatic lashes. At your next event, play with your lipstick by creating a custom shade just for you. — Melanie Kerr
