Rooney Mara, who was spotted at last night’s Calvin Klein Collection party in Cannes (wearing flesh-toned Calvin Klein and slicked back hair), has just been announced as the face of the brand’s newest fragrance, Downtown Calvin Klein. The black-and-white television campaign, which will debut in July, was created by Mara’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo director, David Fincher, and “tells the story of a young woman living in her own world, breaking away from the ‘expected.'” This description sounds a little bit like a certain punk computer hacker, though we’re sure the new character will also display the grace and classic charm that Lisbeth Salander lacked—all the better to suit the feminine woods and soft floral notes of Downtown.
Mara is currently in Cannes to promote her new film, Ain’t Them Bodies Saints, where she plays a wife dealing with the imprisonment and subsequent escape of her husband. Click to see the latest red carpet and party looks from Cannes Day 1 and Day 2.
